The Value of Christ

Philippians 3:7-8 – “But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worthy of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.”

Oh that I would place this value on Christ, for he is infinitely worthy! It is a sad testament to examine my life and see that though I know that Christ is of incomparably greater worth than the little things I spend my time on, that it is still those little things which occupy the majority of my time. Though I may spend the first hour of my morning searching Scripture, it is little compared to the time which I spend training horses, playing sports, or working. Oh Lord, strip me of all those things which distract me from You, and reveal Yourself to me in everything I see and do. For it is not that these other activities exists which fails to bring You glory, but that the meditation of my heart is not set on You. Whether I be gazing at a rainbow as a declaration of your promises, or cleaning the barn with the health and strength which you have given, may my life be a living sacrifice which brings You glory, Lord Jesus!
